Summary

National Geographic filmmaker Dereck Joubert's words drive straight to the heart of what this book is all about. Dereck and his wife, Beverly, have worked with dangerous wildlife in Africa for National Geographic for years. They have produced more than 20 award-winning films, as well as some of the most beautiful wildlife photography in existence, and their conservation efforts have included everything from establishing game reserves to re-growing rain forests. But rather than addressing the science or the conservation of leopards--both topics of great interest to the Jouberts--Eye of the Leopard is a celebration of these beautiful cats, the country they call home, and two photographers with a lifelong passion for photographing them. Their accompanying film with the same title just won them their fifth Emmy award for Best Achievement in Science, Nature, and Technology.

Author Biography

Multiple Emmy award-winners, Dereck and Beverly Joubert, recently nominated as “Explorers-in-Residence” at the National Geographic Society, are award-winning filmmakers, photographers, writers, and conservationists. Their prime goal in life is to use their particular talents to enhance conservation and inspire others to take care of the planet. Working with the National Geographic Society and based out of Botswana, the Jouberts have managed to influence both policy and perceptions of the wild for more than 25 years.
